Each year Joanne Grace School of Dance presents an end of year concert and pantomime. The theme of each years pantomime will be announced at the beginging of term 4. The concert, two evening shows and a matinee, is performed at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, Burelli Street Wollongong. Tickets for the two evening shows are open to the general public and the matinee is a performance of Act 2 only and is performed primarily for school groups.
Act 1 showcases troupe performances for each Jazz, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Singing, Babies, Recreational Classes and Ballet troupe classes.
Act 2 is a pantomime performed by all exam ballet students. The schools matinee is act 2 only and offers primary students the opportunity to participate in an audience and see children of all ages performing their rendition of a much loved children's classic. Students are given the chance to go to the theatre as part of educating them on theatre etiquette and giving them a "theatre experience" that some children may not otherwise experience. This visit can be a special excursion to culminate the end of a school year and class exercises based around the performance can be incorporated through the creative arts syllabus. Feedback from school teachers and students who have attended the matinee in previous years has been very positive.
