GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING CLASSES

Classes for jazz are split into two classes in each age group. These classes are not divided by ability level, however, divided in order to decrease size of classes. This also ensures quality teaching and separates those that want to commit more to their dance training.

Students that come once a week for recreation / exercise purposes will dance in the one class. It is assumed that the students and parents in these classes have a different aim to that of the students who come several times a week and by separation of the two the teacher is better able to cater to the needs of the students.

The other class will only be open to students doing two ballet classes a week or for students who are wishing to do two jazz classes a week and therefore doing both classes. It is students in the latter classes who will be offered more performance opportunities as it is assumed their commitment level and general technique is higher due to the frequency of classes.

Teachers for each class will be dependant upon timetabling and studio availability and will vary from year to year.

It is a requirement that any student wishing to do the contemporary / expressive classes do a minimum of one ballet class per week as the reliance on the classical technique is a foundation for these styles.

For classical ballet classes, students will be placed in the appropriate grade according to their commitment level, physical capabilities, age, experience / expertise. You are asked to respect the decisions made with regard to this.
