Stretching is a form of exercise in which a
specific muscle is deliberately elongated to its fullest length in order to
improve the muscle's elasticity. The result is a feeling of increased
muscle control, flexibility and range of motion.
There are many benefits to correct stretching some of which include :
Good flexibility is important to a dancer to assist with producing the correct line through the body as well as to assist with the abovementioned points.
Stretch forms a part of all of the classical ballet classes and has been set up this way to improve flexibility, co-ordination, strength and to guard against injury by balancing muscle groups
