Tap

GLENN WOOD SYLLABUS

Tap dance is a form of dance characterised by a tapping sound that is created from metal plates that are attached to both the ball and heel of the dancer’s shoe. These metal plates, when tapped against a hard surface, create a percussive sound and as such the dancers are considered to be musicians.

Joanne Grace School of Dance tap students progress through early training in flexibility of ankle & knee joints, gross motor skills & hand-eye co-ordination to advanced levels of musicality, timing differentiation & improvisation through the Glenn Wood syllabus

Exams are encouraged but not compulsory.

TESTIMONIALS

Professional, highly qualified studio who support kids from recreational level right up to the elite level and beyond. Joanne has become a significant “lighthouse” to our son over eight years, and will continue to do so as he moves forward with his training. Highly recommended!

All my daughters have danced here, they have formed life long friendships while receiving the best teaching within 100kms, I wouldn't trust my children with anyone else.

Our little one loves Joanne Grace. She started in Ready Set Dance and is now moving to Ballet. During COVID we were worried about lessons and her falling behind. The school were great at communicating and keeping us up to date about developments and making sure the kids were safe. While we are not typically a 'dance' family, the end of year concert was absolutely amazing. We loved seeing our little one shine on the stage. You can tell the years of experience at this top level, as it really showed at the performances.
